Acupuncture is an ancient practice that has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of health conditions. It involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body, which helps to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. At Integral Health, we offer acupuncture as a holistic approach to health. We believe that the body has the ability to heal itself and acupuncture is a way to facilitate that process. Our licensed acupuncturist has years of experience and is dedicated to helping each of our patients achieve optimal health.
How Is Acupuncture Performed?
The acupuncturist applies pressure to pressure points on the body by placing extremely tiny needles beneath the skin in those regions. The patient doesn’t feel much pain because the needles are so thin. The acupuncturist makes sure that the needles are properly sterilized before insertion to prevent infection. To relieve any pressure or swelling that may be present in a specific place after the insertion, the needles may be gently adjusted or twisted. The needles that are put into the skin may also get heat or a gentle electric pulse from the practitioner. They often stay in place for fifteen to thirty minutes while the patient rests still and unwinds. No soreness is often felt after removal.
Some of the conditions that acupuncture can help with include:
- Chronic pain

- Anxiety and depression
- Digestive issues

- Allergies and asthma
